Joining Saber TKD Schools

 HOW DO I JOIN ?

Joining a Saber Taekwondo School is very easy, This can be done by contacting your nearest School by PHONE, EMAIL or just by calling in to one of our many schools. Any Black Belts wishing to start a school under Sabertkd must contact the chief Instructor.

Allow 10 minutes before the start of the session so you and the instructor can have a brief chat on what you are looking for from your Taekwondo training and to discuss any health issues.

Once you are happy with this and you wish to join in remember to bring some lose clothing, a non fizzy drink and any inhalers you may need if you have asthma.

Remember your FIRST SESSION is FREE and there are NO REGISTRATION FEES on the day so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

AM I TO OLD ?

Your never to old to learn anything new, as long as you are in moderate health you can

learn Taekwondo.

You may not be able to do what the younger students do, but you will gain fitness and a good understanding of the basics and self defence aspects.

DO I HAVE TO TRAIN WITH MEN ?

Yes, Sometimes but not all the time, There is a higher chance that in a self- defence situation you will have to defend yourself against a man. Working with with male students will help you to gain confidence against a male attacker

WHAT HAPPENS IN A SESSION ?

A normal session starts with a warm up, this can be taken at your own pace so don't feel put off by having to do a little exercise, Everything starts slow and gets easier.

Next you do some flexibility work and stretching, Again you are not expected to be able to touch your toes and do the side splits. Again this is taken at your own pace and you build it up from there.

Depending on what the instructor has planned for the session you usually start with pad work or footwork. the pad work is where you learn to kick and punch, the foot work is for movement and balance. Then the session can vary between non contact sparring ( if you wish to make contact then we have sparring sessions to suit) also you may learn self defence or patterns depending on your instructor.

Afterwords you will cool down and ask any questions you have about Taekwondo and the session.

DO I HAVE TO COMPETE IN COMPETITIONS ?

NO! We like to encourage our younger members to compete in competitions, either sparring or patterns. We teach the World Taekwondo Federation style of Taekwondo that teaches Olympic sparring, so every Saber Student may have a chance to go on to the world stage with a lot of hard work and high standards training which we promise to all are members.

Any other questions you may have can be e-mailed via Sabertkd@hotmail.co.uk
